About Marsala Salsa Restaurant and Bar

There's a little gem tucked away on 21 Lower Main St W in Johnson, VT called Marsala Salsa Restaurant and Bar. It's a place that's hard to pin down geographically, but one thing's for sure: the flavor is universal, and the vibe is all about good times.

Start with the menu, which is a delightful blend of Mexican, Caribbean, and Italian influences. It sounds like a blend that shouldn’t work, yet it does, with each dish coming together in a fusion of savory and spicy harmonies. One bite and all culinary skepticism melts away, replaced with vibrant tastes and the feeling of a mini-vacation on a plate.

Imagine diving into their renowned jerk chicken tacos—they pack a punch that grabs any spice enthusiast by the taste buds. For those who prefer their meals on the carb-laden side, handmade pasta with a spicy tomato and basil sauce offers a comfort that clings to the soul. The warmth continues with the smoky depth of their enchiladas, a dish that earns a chorus of 'bravos' from patrons who indulge.

The location itself, nestled in the heart of Johnson, gives off an easy, welcoming vibe. Its position on Lower Main St makes it a spot that feels both central and secretive, perfect for a low-key dinner or a lively night out. The setting is intimate, with subtle nods to each represented culture in the decor, a cozy space where the aroma invites and tempts pedestrians to stop and stay awhile.

Checking out a few reviews online reveals that regulars can’t get enough of the mango salsa, a sweet tangy condiment that somehow finds its way into every course, enriching the taste profile of traditional recipes and experimental dishes alike. Patrons frequently mention the friendly staff, eager to turn newcomers into regulars with a blend of charm and an innate talent for making solid recommendations.

Diners talk about the drinks, too—not just any drinks, but cocktails that are a reflection of the culinary diversity served in a glass. A margarita with a twist of Caribbean flair or an Italian-inspired limoncello spritz, each drink is crafted to enhance the dining journey.

In the end, Marsala Salsa Restaurant and Bar isn’t just about eating out. No, it’s an experience where cultures collide on a plate, where each visit is something to savor, talk about, and repeat again and again.

Soooo for a restaurant in Johnson VT i was pleasantly surprised. Service was cheerful and good. Restaurant was bright and clean. Food was above average especially for this little town. We tried the dahl soup and the chicken curry and chicken tandoori. Both are simple cream dishes with vegetables however the spices were well portioned being not mild or to spicy. Presentation was nice too. The naan bread was a little doughy but good. With the amount of sauce in the dishes i would provide more naan or office as side dish with different flavors. Overall B+

Had a great time having dinner with my partner! Excellent menu options and specials. The environment was clean, easy going, diverse, and accepting. I have a quite a few allergies and they did everything they could to accommodate us. Looking forward to trying more on their menu, and treating ourselves to a Chimichanga, Johnson Mule and Coconut Flan again 😋 Shout out to Ethan, Hazen, and Etta!

Marsala Salsa was always the most special restaurant that my family loved going to in Waterbury. Its reopening in Johnson years later is truly a dream come true. The success can clearly be attributed to Jan, the chef and expert business owner who is passionate about creating a variety of authentic dishes using only the freshest ingredients. Additionally, the kind staff members, warm atmosphere, and key lime pie have me counting down the days until I get to go again!

Honestly the food is incredible, delicious and extremely well priced. It's a great place for families, friends gathering for drinks, company gatherings or just a date night. We plan on coming to Johnson's more often because of the food at Marsala Salsa. 🤩

Johnson has a wonderful new restaurant. The menu is eclectic and interesting. It has Mexican, Jamaican, and Indian. I attached a picture of part of the menu. I sat at the bar. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. I had the Shrimp Sagg Curry. The food was served nice and hot. The Shrimp, sagg and rice were fantastic. Also, I loved the cute little Nan bread. The dining room is colorful and a touch rustic. A few decorative sombreros on the wall and objects on the wall. The leaves are starting to change in Northern, Vermont. This dinner was a nice end to a day driving through the beautiful mountains. I look forward to stopping in again to try other dishes.
